Our journey began in the late 1980's when we realized the beauty, peace, and convenience offered by the mountains of Northwest Georgia; particularly Lookout Mountain and Mountain Cove, formed by Lookout and Pigeon Mountains. This area offers beautiful natural mountain settings that are very close to Chattanooga (less than 40 minutes) and within two hours of Atlanta, Birmingham, and Nashville.
In 1992 we purchased our first lot in Lookout Highlands on Lake Shelby and immediately built a dock so we could come out on the weekends to fish and relax with our dogs. Our plans were to build a weekend cottage; however, as soon as we realized how much we loved the area and the lifestyle it could afford, we began to plan a home we could use as a weekend get-away for a few years and then it could become our permanent home.
After acquiring our second, adjoining lot we began construction of our "Lake Home" in the fall of 1995 and were able to move in and begin enjoying the mountain lifestyle in June 1996. Life at the lake was all we had dreamed it to be, and every time we headed to the lake home, we could feel the stress levels subsiding as we got closer to our mountain retreat.
Finally Pep took early retirement from the Investment Department of a large insurance company, where he had been a Senior Mortgage Loan Officer (restructuring commercial mortgage loans from coast to coast) and then a Senior Investment Officer doing commercial loans internationally. After a couple of years with a small furniture company that made furniture from reclaimed heart pine and barn wood designed for mountain homes, he became a real estate agent and began to pursue his passion for the second/retirement and investment property market on and around Lookout Mountain.
